Hello. My pc works slowly, I wanted to add m.2 ssd. Because its manual says I can add upgrade my storage with m.2 ssd. But when I opened the back cover there was no m.2 slot. Below, it's my laptop image.
As you see there's no slot for ssd. But I watched one youtube video. In the video, a man tries to upgrade m.2 slot ssd in laptop hp 14-al001nx which is 99 percent similar to mine. Below m.2 slot of hp 14al001nx which I watched on the video.
As you see, in the video there is m.2 slot in the circled area.
But surprisingly, if you look at my laptop, I have this area too. But there's no m.2 slot adapter in my laptop. The laptop in the video has m.2 slot adapter (above in the picture). Below I showed this area of my laptop clearly
My laptop and the laptop in the video both have this area. But mine doesn't have m.2 slot adapter.
My question:
Can I add m.2 slot adapter to my laptop? Because I can see some golden strips in this area which means there's something missing here.

Hi:
That is very interesting because only the notebooks that came with a M.2 SATA SSD from the factory have M.2 slots.
So, I'm not the least bit surprised that your notebook is missing the slot, but I don't understand why the 14-al001nx has one because the product specs indicate that model also did not come with a M.2 SATA SSD.
HP Pavilion 14-al001nx (ENERGY STAR) Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
The only thing I can think of is that the person added the M.2 slot SSD board that is listed in chapter 3, page 20 of the service manual.
Solid-state hard drive connector board (not illustrated) HP part # 856210-001
To me it is not worth it trying to find the part you need which is going to cost quite a bit of money, just to add a SATA M.2 SSD, when you can simply replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD that will run just as fast as a M.2 SATA SSD.
NVMe SSD's are not supported in that model series (see chapter 1 of the manual).

I may upgrade my HDD to SDD. But my HDD has lots of useful information and its size is 1TB. You know 1 TB SSDs are expensive. That's why I just wanted to add some 200 or 250 GB SSD to my laptop and install OS on that SSD so that my laptop system and programs work smoothly. Then I would just use my HDD as big storage.
One more question:
Should I replace the entire system board for ssd board connector? Honestly, I don't know how to do that.

I did a search by the part number listed in the manual, and I would have no idea how the part they show would fit.
The board with the slot on it looks too big for the area it goes in, and there would be no screws included.
When all is said and done you can probably buy a 1 TB SSD for the same price as buying the parts you need to add a M.2 SSD.
You can buy a SATA to USB cable and clone your existing hard drive's configuration to the SSD.
