Hi,

Your PC originally came with the 45 W adapter 741727-001

You can use a 65W adapter without any problem as long as the voltage and amperage is the same or very close. You can use the 740015-003 adapter which has the same specs. You can use one of the more "universal adapters" sold in HP store and you can use most universal adapters which you can find online. The Wattage is not important as long as it  is not lower.

Hope it helps,

David

I expect that you probably mean the power adapter.

They are not "one size fits all".

Only use the original adapter or another that has identical electrical specifications. Look at the tag on the original power adapter. It has all of the electrical specs, including polarity, type and dimensions of the connector.

Hi so I am in the UK, my power adapter should be 65w or 45w. The part numbers I have are 740015-003, is this correct for my 15-r008na

The following part numbers are from the Maintenence & Service guide for your notebook.

65-W, non-PFC, 4.5 mm (for use in all countries and regions except for the People’s Republic of China
and India)
710412-001

45-W non-PFC, non-slim HP Smart AC adapter (for use in all countries and regions except for the
People’s Republic of China and India)
741727-001

The number you provided is not listed as compatible with the notebook you asked about.

See the following search for a compatible power adapter for the HP 15-r008na notebook

Only if the one that has the note on it has stopped working.
