@rliao,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Unfortunately, according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06242992.pdf, your memory slot(s) are, and I quote: "Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable":

That means that your RAM is soldered in and cannot be removed/upgraded...

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hi, @rliao

Your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory.

It can probably support more than that if you need it to.

The "Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable" statement means that HP wants any memory upgrades to be performed by an authorized service center.

You can do the upgrades yourself but if your notebook is still under warranty, it will be voided if you break anything in the process of performing any work to the PC.

Chapter 5 of the service manual has the memory removal and replacement procedures.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

This would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook:

This would be a compatible 16 GB memory chip for your notebook (if the report you run indicates that 32 GB of memory is supported).
