hi - have seen some conflicting info. re memory  upgrade for my pavillion.    Currently have 8gb would like to increase to either 12 or 16.  Have checked current memory through task manager / performance which shows i have sodimm 2400.  Went into cmd and checked max memory which came up with 33gb ??

HP spec sheet indicates  16 gb max of ddr4 2400 sdram.

SO can someone with the same or similar model confirm that I can have 2 x 8gb of ddr4 2400 sdram memory ?

Also are there any brands which cause problems ?  I upgraded memory in an acer a while back which was quite sensitive as to the brands it would accept

thanks

Hi:

This would be the 8 GB memory chip I recommend for your notebook:

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial UK

Usually, HP notebooks with two memory slots that have the Intel 8th gen core processors will support 2 x 16 GB of memory, so I am not surprised that you got that number when you ran the memory report.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure.
