Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade my ram but struggling to find what the actual capacity is.  It's current 4GB and it seems the max is either 12 or 16GB (2 x 8GB).  Can anyone help please?

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max is 12 GB.

I question that.

If a notebook has two memory slots, you should be able to install the same capacity memory in each slot.

I say the max would be 2 x 8 GB.

You can verify the amount of memory your PC can run as follows...

Windows users can determine the maximum RAM capacity in the Command prompt with the command below. It gives the final value in kilobytes which can be converted to gigabytes (divide the value by 1048576 to convert KB to GB).

Run the Command prompt app as administrator.  Then run the following command.  You can copy and paste the line from here.

Thanks that was great.  Strangely it's coming up with 32GB.  Most of the online information is saying 16 rather than 32.  Would you agree?  And I was going to buy from Crucial....is that good option?  Really welcome your thoughts.

You're very welcome.

That is very surprising the report came up with 32 GB.

I was sure it would indicate 16 GB but wow...32 GB.

The specs from Intel for the processor your notebook has also indicate 32 GB...

I'll leave it up to you to take the gamble on the notebook being able to take 32 GB.

You can always buy a 16 GB chip, add it to the existing one and see what happens.

Yes, Crucial memory is the way to go...

Crucial is indicating the max is 16 GB.

You've been absolutely great!  I'll go for the 2x8GB.  Better safe than sorry.  Once again, thanks very much!
