Pavilion 15-AU119
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new HP Pavilion laptop (15-AU119NA) and want to use a USB memory stick for back-up of documents only.

Maplin advise me to get a 128GB flash drive rather than the 32GB version. They also advise the faster version 3.00 rather than 2.00.  So:

1. Is 32GB adequate for just documents (no pics, videos etc) and a relatively small number at that?

2. The specs tell me I have two 3.1 ports and one 2.0 but I don’t know which is which. Can I use a 2.0 stick in a 3.1 port? (speed will not be important) or is there an indication on the machine of which port is 2.0 and which are 3.1?

Thanks.

Using the 2.0 stick will work fine in the 3.0 ports.

You have one 3.0 port on each side of your laptop.

Look for the " SS" next to the USB ports those are the 3.0
