memory upgrade

Hi  I have a  Model 15-db001dx laptop. I'm about to crack the case and upgrade the memory (this 4g sht is driving me nuts,,,).What is the maximum memory I can put in/ that the board will handle? I know their are 2 memory slots. I'm planning on putting in a 16g memory card, but if the board will handle it I'll put in 2, one in each slots, giving me 32g of ram. I run Linux, so I'm not worried about the software (Linux would LOVE 32 gig :). thought I read on here somewhere that  someone did upgrade to 32gig. Is it true?

Hi:

I can't find any such model.

If you have a 15-db0011dx:

HP Laptop 15-db0011dx

Then there is only one memory slot and according to chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual, the slot will support 1 x 8 GB of memory.

Here's a picture of the motherboard your notebook comes with and you can see that there is only one memory slot.

I have heard reports of folks installing a 16 GB memory chip in the single slot and they all reported it worked fine.

What I suggest you do is to run a report and if it reports 32 GB of memory is supported, than a 16 GB memory chip should work in the single slot.

There's a way to run a command in Linux to determine the maximum memory.
