The insert key is missing from my keyboard is there a function key combination instead?

Hi @adc123

 

Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

 

Ctrl+Alt+i will be the key combination for the Insert key. You may use it instead of the insert key.

ctrl+ins is copy in bash, I need it to copy and paste

I also use it as intended, to insert text in the middle of a word where the cursor is
