probook 450 3g
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a how come question.

In the last ten years, I have owned a Probook 4530s, a Laptop 15z-bw000. a  Notebook 15-ba087cl and a Probook 450 3G.

My question, just out of curiosity, is why do the Probooks leave a connection with the modem and the Notebook and the Laptop don't?

When I shut down a Probook the link light flashes red but when I shut down either of the other two the link light goes out completely.

I know it is the architecture of the hardware and not the software since all four have operated with both 7 and 10.

I know that it looks like a frivolous question but I would like a serious answer.

You mean the RJ-45 jack where you have an ethernet cable plugged in? The Probook is a more advanced machine and has the capability to Wake on LAN. So you can turn it off but if another computer specifically sends it a ping it can wake up. Its a feature found in servers and higher end computers for a business IT environment. An ethernet cable carries a bit of electricity so the computer is not really 100% off just in a very deep sleep mode waiting to be woken up and the red light indicates that. Consumer laptops just turn off 100%. This is a bit of a guess until you explain whether my assumption about what you mean by "modem" is right or wrong.

Thanks. I never considered LAN/WAN nor business/personal.
