Hello.

on the motherboard of a pc hp g72 b52sf shipped with an insyde bios f.48 i upgraded it from a p6100 processor toward an intel i7 640m. It seems i have some overheating problem because i have to cool the pc with an external cooling device in order to avoid shutdown.

The I7 works warmer than the p6100...so probably i should modify the temperature settings in the bios. Could you confirm me that?

Another issue is that in the bios i don't have the advanced tabs that would allow me to modify these settings? is there a version of the bios perhaps the f.49 that  referred to correct temperature settings?

Thank you in advance for your answer and advices.

System is sensitive to heat as described here

It will shut down quickly if heat sink is not sufficient.

Try keeping it out of turbo mode.  I have found that can make a huge difference.

Enter the phrase edit power plan in the window search box
Then select the Advanced tab

To keep the CPU from overheating , consider
using %99 instead of %100.
if this is a gaming system then the game hub overrides the power setting.

as far as I know, only some of the omen gaming systems have advanced bios settings.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer and advices.

i know; i have several tries to run with the windows settings of the power plan.

but i remain convinced that the best solution is to modify the cut'off temperature of the processor in the bios.

Currently for this last setting the bios is probably configured with the data of the p6100 which are outdated with the insertion of  i7.

Thank you for all and waiting for your next answer.
