After I done my bios upgrade my GPU doesn't show up anymore in task manger and unable to use it however it shows that the laptop has no problem with the GPU in the pc hardware diagnosis. I don't know whether the bios upgrade is the reason or not.

Hi @zxzdxc,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your GPU not being recognized after a BIOS upgrade, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem. Keep in mind that modifying the BIOS can be risky, and it's important to follow the HP instructions carefully. Here are some suggestions.

  • Revert to the Previous BIOS Version: If the issue started after the BIOS upgrade, consider reverting to the previous BIOS version. Check the manufacturer's website for your laptop model to find instructions on how to roll back to the previous BIOS version.
  • Check BIOS Settings: Ensure that the BIOS settings related to graphics are configured correctly. Look for options related to GPU settings, graphics switching, or any settings that might impact the recognition of the GPU. Resetting the BIOS settings to default may also be worth trying.
  • Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest GPU drivers installed. Visit the official website of the GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD) to download and install the latest drivers for your specific GPU model.
  • Device Manager: Check the Device Manager in Windows to see if the GPU is listed and recognized. Right-click on the Start menu, select "Device Manager," and look for the Display Adapters category. If your GPU is not listed or has an error icon, there may be a driver or hardware issue.
  • BIOS Update: If you haven't already, check if there is a newer BIOS version available that addresses the issue. Sometimes, HP releases BIOS updates to fix compatibility or recognition issues.
  • System Restore: If you created a system restore point before the BIOS update, you might consider using it to revert your system to a state before the update. This can help if the issue is indeed related to the BIOS update.

Always exercise caution when updating BIOS or making changes to system settings, and make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions precisely.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
