My laptop's battery is suddenly not detected, making the laptop's power die immediately when I plug it, sometimes it would work for a while then it dies again

my adapter is HP official adapter, I charge the laptop fully, I'm trying to find a way to make it stop when it hit 80%, does anyone knows how to fix that ?

@tatatsurana, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Pavilion x360 laptop battery is not being detected, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check the Battery Connection: Ensure that the battery is properly seated and connected within the laptop. Sometimes reseating the battery can resolve connectivity issues.

Inspect for Physical Damage: Look for any signs of physical damage to the battery or the battery compartment.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger, then turn on the laptop.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Make sure your BIOS and laptop drivers are up to date. You can check for updates on HP's website.

Battery Calibration:

  • For battery calibration, allow your laptop to fully charge to 100%, then disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop turns off. Recharge it to 100% again.

Run HP Support Assistant: Use HP Support Assistant software for diagnostic purposes. It might provide solutions or indicate if the battery needs to be replaced.

Configure Charging Settings:

  • The ability to limit charging to a certain percentage (such as 80%) is not typically available in Windows by default, but some third-party applications might offer this functionality. Consider looking for software that can manage battery charging settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
