Hi @CrispPlate
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The issue you're describing—caps lock blinking three times—indicates a hardware problem, specifically related to the memory (RAM) or motherboard.
Since you've already tried reseating the RAM, here are some additional steps you can take:
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the charger and remove any external devices (e.g., USB drives).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the charger (without the battery) and try turning on the laptop.
Test with Different RAM:
- If you have access to another compatible RAM module, try replacing the current one to see if the issue is resolved.
- Alternatively, test your RAM in another laptop (if possible) to confirm whether it's functioning properly.
Inspect the RAM Slot:
- Check the RAM slot for any visible damage or debris. Use compressed air to clean it gently.
Run Diagnostics:
- If the laptop powers on briefly, press the Esc key repeatedly during startup to access the Startup Menu.
- Select "Diagnostics" (usually F2) to run a hardware test.
