From off with the power adapter connected, press the power button and immediately tap the F10 key to invoke the BIOS.

Check in the Configuration section to see if there is a Battery Care function

HP recommends leaving that set to 80%, but since I can replace the battery myself I just have it set to 100%. I  usually get about 2.5 years out of a battery.

If you set the Battery care setting to 90% you will get more time to use the laptop on battery, but it will reduce the battery service life.

Setting the Battery Care setting to 90% means that you will have 90% of 46wh (laptop on battery time) when the laptop is fully charged.

It is a bit of a trade off.

Ah.  "so till how much should I charge my battery it says 90% " I don't get why you are asking that question.

My laptop charges to 75-80% within @30 minutes.

The amount of the current charge  percentage can be seen if you put the cursor on the power/battery icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.

Hi @eh0021tu

You will need to give a better description than what you have already provided.

There is no such thing as a "laptop percentage". You must be trying to describe something in particular, but that , unfortunately, is not it. Please try again.

What does " can't switch without power pluggedin" mean?

my laptop suddenly shuts down, without giving any mark, and doesn't switch on, it gets switched on by giving power supply, and later works again it's continues after 1or 2days idk why this occurs since it got a new i5 12gen though. and my laptop battery percentage changes when the system shuts down

I do not understand what " idk why this occurs since it got a new i5 12gen" means.

I suggest that you run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI utility and go to Component Tests and then Power test. Post the result here in your next reply.

Press the power button and then immediately tap the F2 key to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI utility.

Click on Component Tests and in the next screen click on Power to run the test.

thanks a lot for your help sir,

it's says everything is good,

let me explain my problem,

whenever I use my laptop like for 1hr gaming, I play fall guys and gta 5 on it. it gets heated like moderately average of 60°c to 75°c

after a while of gaming, it'll be normal, for a few hours after I discharge my battery charger and start using it, suddenly it shuts down, after plugging in for power supply it works, until then battery doesn't work, no matter how many times I try of switching it on, when this problem occurs.

after the power supply everything goes well,

and I feel like my battery is quickly draining I'm getting 5hrs for only use of Microsoft edge and WhatsApp that's all. so any solution for any better battery life of my laptop?

How much battery capacity is remaining as compared to the factory battery design capacity?

YOu will see both of those when you p[erform the battery test in the result.

What it means is that the 100% Factory design capacity is not going to be the same as the current fully charged 100%.

The 100%  full charge percent metric changes over time as the Lithium battery cycle number increases.

Your notebok is not really meant to be playing games like GTA on it without being connected to the power adapter.

That is why after a couple of hours of playing a graphics intensive game in performance mode on battery, it shuts off when the charge gets down to the minimum amunt that is set in Windows power options.

As far as battery life goes, if you want to have a long battery service life, leave it as is.

If you wanrt to play a game for a long time, say more than an hour or so in competition,  use the power adapter.
