Hi @Minha1332,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-Eg0000 (172Z8AV) battery is discharging quickly, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Battery Health

  • Windows Battery Report:
    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
    3. The report will be saved to your user folder (e.g., C:\Users\YourUsername\battery-report.html).
    4. Open the report and check the "Design Capacity" vs. "Full Charge Capacity".

2. Adjust Power Settings

Change Power Plan:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & battery > Power mode.
  2. Select Best Power Efficiency.

Adjust Display Settings:

  1. Reduce screen brightness.
  2. Set a shorter time for the screen to turn off when inactive.

3. Close Unnecessary Background Applications

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • End tasks that are consuming high CPU or RAM.

4. Update Drivers and BIOS

  • Ensure your system drivers and BIOS are up-to-date:
    1. Visit the HP Support website.
    2. Enter your laptop model number.
    3. Download and install the latest drivers and BIOS updates.

5. Check for Malware

  • Run a full system scan with Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program.

6. Optimize Battery Usage

Battery Saver Mode:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & battery.
  2. Toggle on Battery saver.

Unplug External Devices: External devices like USB drives, external hard drives, or even a connected mouse can drain battery power.

7. Hardware Check

  • Check for Physical Damage: Ensure the battery is not swollen or damaged.
  • Replace Battery: If the battery is old or damaged, consider replacing it with a new one.

8. Use HP Support Tools

  • HP Support Assistant:
    1. Download and install HP Support Assistant.
    2. Run diagnostics and follow the recommended actions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
