Hi @inam101001,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion laptop after updating the BIOS. BIOS updates can sometimes lead to unexpected problems, and it's important to address these issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the situation.

  • Roll Back the BIOS Update (If Possible): If you can access the BIOS settings, you may be able to roll back to the previous BIOS version. This option isn't always available, but it's worth checking.
  • Check for BIOS Update Hotfixes: Visit the HP support website for your laptop model and check if there are any hotfixes or patches available for the BIOS update you installed. Sometimes, manufacturers release fixes for issues caused by BIOS updates.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause performance issues. Make sure all your drivers, including the graphics card and chipset drivers, are up-to-date.
  • Perform a System Restore: If your laptop was working fine before the BIOS update, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a state before the update. This can help if the issue is primarily related to the BIOS update.
  • Check Power Settings: Ensure that your laptop is not set to a power-saving mode that might limit CPU performance. You can adjust power settings in the Windows Control Panel.
  • Battery Replacement: If the battery health is indeed degraded as indicated by the diagnostic scan, you should consider replacing the battery. A failing battery can cause various performance issues and charging problems.
  • Backup and Reinstall Windows (as a last resort): If all else fails and you suspect the BIOS update caused severe issues, you might need to back up your data and perform a clean Windows installation. This will ensure that the operating system is in a clean state.

Remember that BIOS updates are critical system updates, and while they can bring improvements, they can also introduce problems. It's essential to follow best practices when updating BIOS, such as ensuring your laptop is connected to a reliable power source and that you have a backup of your important data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
