Cannot seem to find this part on the HP site, any suggestions. Would prefer to get an original HP Part if possible.

Hi,

Yes, it is difficult to find and not available in the HP parts store. I would just use a compatible part. I mean it is not really a complicated part to make I would think 😀

The part number for the cable is L23889-001

Example:

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=L23889-001&ref=nb_sb_noss

I do wonder why you actually need the hard drive cable since your PC should be able to accept an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD which will be much faster than any SATA drive. Even the cheapest ones such as the Crucial P1. Something like the Adata SX8200 or the Samsung 970 Evo Plus would be really fast. There is no limit to the capacity.

M2 slotM2 slot

On page 35 of the service manual, you can see the steps to remove the bottom cover and check if the slot is present.

Hope it helps,

David

I do have a dual drive setup, a 500 GB C drive for windows (NVMe), and a 2 TB HDD to hold files, movies, software etc.

I started having a lot of issues with the time it took to find files on the HDD, it was taking several minutes to find them and just seemed to go off into la la land. I took the HDD out and put it in an external enclosure, used my USB connection and the Drive works just fine. Put it back into the Computer and had the same problems. So to me the easiest way to go was to replace the cable and if that does not fix the issue the connection on the Motherboard could be the problem, this was the cheapest way to find the problem. Contacted HP Support when I could not find the cable at HP and got such a run around just to order a part for one of their Laptops. So I posted here in hopes someone could help. I did search Amazon yesterday and found one that is for my Laptop and went ahead and ordered it. Thanks for your post.
