i have an older hp laptop with windows 8.1 that i just bought used from someone. im not sure if itd ever been updated since it was first bought as it called for about 200 updates and still has very old and outdated apps and software on it. its capable of running windows 10 but im not able to get it to finish the 10 install without getting an error. i ran some scans and found it has a hard drive long DST check error- failure id- Q09KN4-7GWB1G-MFPV6K=61FS03. ive tried uninstalling and reistalling the drive and it didnt work. what should i do next or is my hard drive completely shot? i dont need any files or anything so id like to just completly wipe the pc and start the latest update of windows that my pc can run. any helpful info is appreciated

You need to replace the harddrive. Any failures on a Drive Self Test are an indication that they drive is failing and even if you get it working it will likely fail completely in short order.
