HP 250 G7 Notebook PC

Hi,

My old battery requires replacement. The HP support assistant (after a callibration attempt) says it should be replaced.

In real the old battery runs out quickly and PC shuts down around 20-30% but the battery charges and discharges in cycles.

I bought a new battery that has the same description as old one. After a replacement the PC shows "no charging" and an indicated battery level is 0%. The HP support assistant says instantly there is a battery failure and it must be replaced. ERROR CODE:

90D7XL-9LMBJQ-XD7XHG-C0DM23

I thought the new batery is broken so it's got exchanged, but with the second new battery it works the same. I wonder if I miss any step when I replace the battery. Once I revert to the old battery it works as it used to do before.

If the old battery is recognized and works as it should, without an error message, it means that the batteries that you installed were not compatible with your notebook.

Reinstallation and normal operation was verification of a proper remove and install procedure.

I suggest getting your money back and finding another vendor.

Always use the HP Part number when searching for compatible replacement. Do not use the generic battery part number.

Yep, i think it is a good path. I returned the batt as in fact it indicated on the label a lower voltage than mine old one 11,34 vs 11,55, although the battery name HT03XL was the same, and i believe also the number you mantioned too (by the way what a stupid idea to mark a different product in the same way, as there couldnt be some additional alphanumenric ending to that name). I have found one that has 11,55 indicated too, and it seems to work fine, no errors, charging and discharging, no startup problems. Many thanks for highliting the problem.
