HP Envy m6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a new battery for my HP Envy mr laptop

The battery is not detected by windows

- The PC will not run without the power adapter so there is definitely no battery recognized

- I tried removing power, battery, 1 minute power down and restart.

- I tried removing Microsoft ACPI-Complient Control Method Battery from device manager and restarting.

- I tried resetting BIOS to default settings.

- I though of updating the BIOS. I used the HP Support Assistant but it says there are no updates. So I didn't try a manual update

All I can think of is that the battery is not a HP original and even though the website I bought it from says it is compatible it is not.

@robot-baby,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • What is the battery part number?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98001-98500/sp98125.exe

Follow the steps in the below article to update the BIOS.
