HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I am quite sensitive to sound noise, my family member is OK with that. But it's she who first informed me about this laptop's noise issue.

I waited two months to get this customized hp pavilion laptop and now as you see when the Temperature1=45 degree C, the Fan1 is running at 2816 RPM. This doesn't sound normal to me and this sound is very annoying. I have another Pavilion desktop All in one, a MacBook pro, and a surface pro. Only this newly bought Pavilion laptop has this desktop server level fan noise when it's near idle status.

The fan noise drives me crazy. I haven't done anything but just open the web browser to write this post. Does anyone have any solution to solve this? Otherwise, I have to return this product to HP. One strange thing is that why the two Fan speed are not balanced? When I check the BIOS, it only reports one fan speed but the GUI tool below said this laptop has two fans.

I also installed the HP command center to set it at quiet, sacreficing performance for low fan noise but it doesn't help.

I also run the BIOS Fan thermal/speed test, the return is below

Model: HP Pavilion Laptop 15t-eg100
Serial Number: [Personal Information Removed]
Product ID: 43F48AV
CSO Number:
Agent ID:

2022-10-01 14:53:49   Fan [S]              Passed     NA

<END>

I have contact HP support today and re-install the BIOS update. Nothing changed.

I also checked this post. It looks like if I really cannot tolerate this Fan sound, the only solution is to return it?

Thanks for your reply Ub6424. I have tried your suggestions and re-install all the drivers, adding the 98% power option and the ultimate plan doesn't show up. I don't know if the restore point makes sense to my question because this laptop is out of the box and I don't have anything to lose if anything goes wrong but I understand it's the general protection procedure.

This is not what I want exactly. What I want is that I can control the fan speed of this laptop. I noticed that the minimum speed of the laptop fan seems to be fixed at 60%, which is around 2800 RPM. When I re-start the PC as you suggested, the laptop fan keeps running at its minimum speed without stopping. I shouldn't notice it so obviously in my opinion. There is some high-frequency band noise generated by this laptop's cooling fan.

Either the fan itself has a quality issue that I need to return or this series laptop all has this type of inferior fan, I wonder if the HP side has the software that I can adjust the fan speed myself to 10% or 40%, see if that is tolerable to me. This is what I am looking for, which I know is quite impossible for an OEM laptop.

I had an HP commercial laptop for my work before (my pavilion desktop works quietly at home now) and I didn't notice they have the fan noise issue so I am not sure if this is my bad luck to have a bad quality fan in this pavilion laptop, I don't have much interest to swap another laptop to try since I have wasted two months to get this.

I agree with you.

(1) Please check BIOS settings and disable [fan always on]

(2) Switch to another model (or manufacturer) because you can decide.

Kind regards

Hi Ub6424:

I believe your suggestions work. I didn't notice the fan is running frequently. I will keep monitoring the situation.

I didn't disable the fan always on in the BIOS yet.

Hello @monglebest

You're welcome !

Check how the system behaves for a while. If there is a high level of satisfaction, shout "Yeah!" loudly.

Kind regards
