Common problems for Battery

HP Recommended

I bought and installed a new battery in my HP Pavilion x360 m Convertible laptop and when I turned on the laptop, it now shows a grey x over the battery icon. The reason I purchased and installed a new battery was because the battery was only lasting 5 minutes and then I had to plug in for power. I thought that with the new battery install that this would solve the problem. Is there anything additional I needed to do after I installed the new battery?

I did see a message once I turned on the laptop after the new battery install...."The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change. CMOS Reset (502). For more information, please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup."

Is the new battery I purchase and installed defective? or is there something else I need to configure after replacing?

Thanks - MP
