Hello everybody.!
I have a question -
in BIOS menu (UEFI boot order notebook) not present position - notebook upgrade bay (ODD \caddy for the second hdd)
But presents next: Optical Disk Drive, there is a USB Hard drive and etc.
This device( notebook upgrade bay) is not in the boot list either (here's a photo below )
Where is the problem ?
my system data:
HP ProBook 4540s laptop
System board ID 17F6
System board CT PCWAR1B2H4S12N
Windows 10 x64 (before was Windows 7)
Bios version 68IRR Ver.F.41
Bios data 05/20/2013
looked at the BIOS pictures of other HP4540 owners, and there was this device in the menu --"boot notebook upgrade bay"
Even more, I unloaded the BIOS settings through the utility from HP BiosConfigUtility
to the * txt file, and there is no such device (notebook upgrade bay) for loading either.
i am sad...

Hi:
On my older HP business class notebooks (nc6400, 6910p), there is a notebook upgrade bay device listed instead of a CD/DVD device.
Have you tried booting from the optical drive device in your boot menu?
Perhaps it will boot from the hard drive in the optical drive caddy.
That would be the only suggestion I can offer.

Hi!
Paul_Tikkanen
Thanks your answer to my question.
My problem is that instead of CD / DVD, I installed 2nd Hard Disk Drive in Caddy ODD Case(SATA1) ... and now I cannot boot(second OS) from this device(but OS from 1st HDD ( SATA0),boot good . Since there is no boot option in the BIOS menu from notebook upgrade bay.
Next quation -Can someone tell from the owners of ProBook 4540 with F67 bios if there is such an option in last BIOS revision?
P.S boot from CD\DVD is good .

@Simatic:
Years ago I owned an HP Elitebook 8440p and it had a CD-DVD drive on it. I needed a complete installation of Win 7and I placed a Win 7 installation disc in the drive and hit F9 to select the DVD drive but it wasn't listed. Instead, I saw Notebook Upgrade Bay there so I clicked it and the OS installation was complete. So try, if not done yet, to hit F9 to see if the upgrade bay is listed on your laptop.
Take care

А long time I was looking for a solution to the problem of launching two OS (WIN10 and WIN7) The problem was, that I could not boot from the HDD installed in the upgrade bay case. With any setting and options, i have boot WIN 10 from SSD HDD or there was no boot at all HDD
but i solved it 🙂
My hardware:
1) HP ProBook 4540s (BIOS F41, not updated)
2) Disk drive 1 -TOSHIBA MQ01ABF050 (500 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-III) instaled WINDOWS7
3) Disk drive 2 -Samsung SSD 870 EVO 500GB (465 GB) WINDOWS10
4) SSD / HDD 2.5 "(ODD) 1stCharger (HDC1ST127-1) SATA / mSATA (with side switch)
in BIOS setting:
loading UEFI (with CSM) as in the picture above.
loading with CD_ROM \its to same loading "notebook upgrade bay" (if installed)
this is option1 which with loading only from HDD SSD SAMSUNG with WIN10(GPT)
1) HDD SSD (Samsung) WIN10-(GPT) is installed in the main compartment of SATA0
2) HDD TOSHIBA(native) \ WIN7-(MBR) is installed in the SATA1 compartment (notebook upgrade bay)
(also swapped HDD, also did not help)
this is option2 which is loaded only with HDD TOSHIBA with WIN7 (MBR)
1) HDD SSD SAMSUNG WIN10(GPT) s installed in the SATA1 compartment (notebook upgrade bay)
In BIOS, set the LEGACY boot!!
in all other variants of installations you will receive either a WIN10 boot or a black screen with an inscription (disk not found -3F0)
Аnd finally the switch for ODD is in the right position (but I think this has no effect for SSD drive)
The problem was the incompatibility of the TOSHIBA HDD and the upgrade bay device, (I think so,) so set your native HDD to (SATA0), and the purchased second HDD to the CD_HDD case
