Solved!

notebook keyboard not responding

Pavilion g6-2315ts
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Notebook keyboard not responding. Tried to uninstalled and reinstall drivers. After restarting the notebook, it has a HID keyboard device driver installed by itself but keyboard still not functioning. Not sure if this is the correct one as remember there should be another device label named something like "standard ps2 keyboard ...etc." under the device manager. Where should I find the right driver? Or how to assess if it is hardware or software issue?

Solved!

notebook keyboard not responding

Hi,

Usually I test to see if it is driver related or hardware related by trying to enter Bios at startup. Turn off the PC by holding the power button foe a few seconds (or remove battery and ac adapter and then reattach as we do not want the PC to be in a sleep state). Now boot the PC and press ESC continuously to see if the menu opens.

If a menu opens try the arrow keys and other possible keys. We know the keyboard is working.

If not the keyboard has most likely failed and needs to be replaced.

Hope it helps and let me know,

David

Thanks David. It work. Keyboard responded when I pressed ESC during startup. Standard PS/2 keyboard driver reinstalled by itself.
