Common problems for Battery

HP 15-bs244wm

To start, my daughter had the laptop plugged in when it fell on the floor and hit the corner where the power jack was connected. This caused the power jack to be pushed into the casing and the top to separate slightly from the bottom. Since then it will only charge when the computer is powered down and closed. When open and on the computer does not recognize the power cord is plugged in. The white light is on solid but when I hover the mouse over the battery icon it does not say that it is plugged in. I never got a notice that the cord was connected and not charging.

I ran the diagnostic on the battery and everything passed except the ac power test.

Everything else is still functional. What can I do to fix this?

Thank you!

The DC jack is replaceable with HP part 931613-001 found in the Service Manual In that manual you will find the procedure to take it apart and install the new jack. DO yourself a favor and order a small cell phone too kit to help split the 2 cases, they work great. Pocket knife or jewels screwdriver risks marring the plastics.
