Microsoft Windows 11

One day the laptop would not boot so I ran some diagnostics and the SSD nvme  (intel Optane) was not seen main windows data but the Optane memory was seen. Bios says the drive is present and passed quick and extended tests.  I ordered a new non-optane nvme and did the remove optane option before removing the old ssd.  Windows 11 install media can't detect the new drive but it can detect the optane data.   I ordered a usb ssd enclosure in order to make sure the drive is activated, formatted and I will add a drive letter hoping windows install will see the drive.   Anyone have any input?

I don't understand how if you removed the Intel SSD with onboard Optane memory that Windows sees anything after you installed a standard NVMe SSD.

On all PC's with Intel 11th >13th gen core processors, you have to load the Intel storage controller drivers at the screen where Windows cannot find any drives.

I have zipped up and attached below, the Intel storage controller drivers needed for Windows to find the drive.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

You can also use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the software on another PC, you will have to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.

Thank You my Friend, worked like a charm.  I'm using the original intel Optane ssd.  990 plus EVO will go to a better place.
