Subject: NVMe SSD Not Detected on HP 15-da0300tu – Need Help

Message:

Hi everyone,

I need some help with upgrading my HP 15-da0300tu laptop. It has an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and comes with an M.2 slot . I’ve been trying to install an NVMe SSD, but the system doesn’t detect it at all.

I’ve already tried several solutions:

  • Updated the BIOS to version F.48

  • Tried loading RST drivers during Windows installation

  • Searched through forums, YouTube, and other online resources

Despite all of this, nothing seems to work. I'm really frustrated at this point. Has anyone successfully installed an NVMe SSD on this model or has any advice on how to get it working?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the compatible SSDs for your unit

 

PCIe, NVMe, M.2 solid-state drives (Intel Core processors):
512 GB
256 GB

 

M.2, SATA-3, solid-state drives:
256 GB, TLC
128 GB, TLC

Thank you for your response and for sharing the list of compatible SSDs.

I had already consulted with HP Service Maintenance earlier and received similar information. However, I am still facing an issue that I hope you can help me with.

My laptop (HP 15 da0300tu) does not detect an NVMe SSD, specifically the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 256GB. I’ve checked the connections and also tested the SSD in another system, where it works perfectly. This leads me to wonder if there might be a compatibility issue or a specific BIOS configuration required.

Could you kindly clarify the following:

  • Does my model support NVMe drives at the BIOS level?

  • Are there any specific BIOS settings I need to change to enable NVMe SSD detection?

  • Is there a particular NVMe SSD model you recommend that is confirmed to work with this laptop?

My product's warranty period has recently expired and I cannot get support from HP. I do not have the luxury of throwing away this laptop I bought from HP 4 years ago and buying a new one. For this, I need to update. My laptop has "256GB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD (3600-3250Mb/s) TLC 3DNAND" and "500GB 5400rpm HDD" installed together and they are working. But these are not enough now. How much capacity can I increase these two drives to? Thank you in advance for your support.
