Hi @Anthonyv14,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like your NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU in your OMEN Transcend 16 is not being recognized or is disengaging, which prevents you from enabling it in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Here are some steps to diagnose and fix the issue:

1. Check Device Manager

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display Adapters.
  • Check if your NVIDIA RTX 4070 is listed:
    • If it's missing, your system may not be detecting it.
    • If it's listed but has a yellow triangle, there may be a driver issue.
    • If it appears as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, reinstalling the driver may be necessary.

2. Reinstall NVIDIA Drivers

  • Download the latest Studio/Game Ready drivers from the NVIDIA website.
  • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode to remove old drivers before installing the new ones.

3. Check NVIDIA Control Panel & Graphics Settings

  • Open NVIDIA Control PanelManage 3D Settings.
  • Under Preferred Graphics Processor, set it to High-Performance NVIDIA Processor.
  • Go to Windows SettingsSystemDisplayGraphics Settings.
  • Select your game or application and set it to High-Performance (RTX 4070).

4. Check BIOS & Power Settings

  • BIOS Update: Check HP's support site for any BIOS updates for the OMEN Transcend 16.
  • Hybrid Mode (MUX Switch): If your laptop has a MUX switch, check the OMEN Gaming Hub under Graphics Switcher and try switching to Dedicated GPU Mode.

5. Check Power & Windows Settings

  • Open Power Options (Win + X → Power Options).
  • Ensure High-Performance Mode or Best Performance is selected.
  • If you're running on battery, some systems force the iGPU (Intel Arc) and disengage the dGPU.

6. Check HP OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open OMEN Gaming HubSystem Vitals and check if the NVIDIA GPU is detected.
  • If it's missing, try a factory reset of the OMEN Gaming Hub (Settings → Reset).

7. Update the BIOS

  • Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the BIOS.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Thank you very much. With this new bios update it switched some things around and now the gpu automatically goes into discreet mode or something. Realized it's still kicking on for games.
