Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hey i was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to install a backlit keyboard in my laptop as it is hard to see what the letters say in the dark, i found an old post on an hp pavilion 15-cd006 that had a couple of options on backlit keyboards so i was hoping the case was the same for my laptop 🙂

As per the Service Guide: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-bc500-laptop/26122243/model/29482525/manuals for your Notebook Model, it shows that this Notebook does not have option for Backlit Keyboard.

But there are several 3rd party Videos and Links online which explains how to replace regular Notebook Keyboards to Backlit Keyboards which you could try at your own risk. 😊

Thank you 😊

I see, do you know if the motherboard has the connector for the backlight? If it does i believe i can make a keyboard from a different laptop work, (i cant use the link you gave me for the service manual, it says page not found)

Unfortunately there is no way to confirm that, but based on the Service Guide, this model might not have the connector required for regular back lit keyboard

Thank you

There is no backlight cable header on the motherboard since there is no backlit keyboard offered by HP. Retrofit projects generally tap power from some other source like a usb port to power a jury-rigged backlit keyboard.
