Hello
I'm searching for the componet part number of the cable to add second ssd drive
to hp 255 G8 (2W1E5EA) .
A lot of site are proposing some model that doesn't (too long) fit with the available space.
Thank you
Paolo

You're very welcome.
It depends.
If you keep your files backed up on a separate portable USB hard drive, I would just have everything on a NVMe SSD.
You could even partition it if you wanted to and have one part for the OS and programs and the other part for your files.
If you plan on using the second SSD as your backup, then I would do that so that in case the NVMe SSD fails, you still have your files on the other independent drive.
I only have my files and programs on one NVMe SSD, but I have them backed up every month to a portable USB hard drive.

Hi, Paolo:
According to the parts list for your notebook, you need this drive cable part number:
L52025-001 | HDD/SSD CABLE for HDD and for SSD on GML |
The part is very expensive if you buy it from HP...57.87 Euros.
HP Parts Store: parti per computer HP, parti per stampanti HP e parti Compaq
I also see that there is another part number for a HDD board.
L52024-001 | HDD BOARD |
That part is 60.60 euros.
HP Parts Store: parti per computer HP, parti per stampanti HP e parti Compaq
I don't know if that is the same part or an additional part that is needed to add a 2.5" drive.
If I were you, I would just install a larger capacity NVMe SSD if you need more storage.
You could buy a 2 TB NVMe SSD for less money than buying the parts you need to add a slower 2.5" SATA SSD.

Hi Paul,
thank you for the information. I will check .
I will also check your suggestion about the NVMw disk.
The upgrade is to save pictures, autocad and archive files.
Do you still think it's better to use nvm instead of ssd ?
