question: what is the largest capacity ssd that is compatible with this notebook?

According to the HP specs, your model came with a 640GB standard SATA laptop drive.

 

So, since SATA SSDs are the same physical size with the same connectors, any SATA SSD up to 2TB would be able to be used to replace the laptop HDD.
