Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an hp pavilion 15-cs2084nl three weeks ago,in the last few days i noticed that when i move my laptop on the desk, or when i hold it on my hands while the cooling fan is working, it starts making a strange noise wich is different from the abitual noise. In particular it seems that cooling fan scratchs somwhere.

Obviosly my laptop is in perfect condition, i've always used it on desk or on table and it never fallen or beaten anyehre.

Hi! @simonem97,

Were there any recent windows update on the PC?

Try updating BIOS and Intel Thermal Framework Client Driver on the PC to the latest version and check if it helps.

Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here

Update the Intel Thermal Framework Client Driver using this link. Click Here

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Try restoring the BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Check if allow this device to wake the computer is checked in Device Manager.

a. Click Start, type Device manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
b. Select keyboard, it will display your keyboard, right click and select ‘Properties’.
c. Select the ‘Power management’ tab.
d. Check the “Allow this device to wake the computer” check box.
e. Repeat these steps for Mouse and Network adapters as well.

To properly ventilate the computer, allow at least 7.6 cm (3 in) of clearance on the left side
of the computer. The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation. The fan is controlled by a temperature
sensor and is designed to turn on automatically when high-temperature conditions exist. These conditions
are affected by high external temperatures, system power consumption, power management/battery
conservation configurations, battery fast charging, and software requirements. Exhaust air is displaced
through the ventilation grill located on the left side of the computer.

Lastly, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Hi!

I contacted the phone assistance on monday morning ad i followed the steps the operator told me to try to fix the problem.

Afetr some tentatives  including bios update, the cooling fan still make noise, so the operator gave me istruction to send my computer to be repaired.

however i think it'an hardware problem because cooling fan make noise only when i move the laptop: when i use it on my legs, when i hold it on hands, and not when it is on the desk, but as a portable device it shouldn't be used only on desk...

I also tested my friend's laptop, which is the same model, and it hansn't that problem, i noticed also that his laptop becomes less hot when it runs games and programs than my laptop.

I hope that the problem could be identified and fixed as soon as possible...

today I recived my laptop back and it'is exactly like it was before the "reparation": with the same problem of cooling fan and in addition it has the keyboard pannel curved, now  the left part remains up and don't rest down on the desk, there is space between the desk and laptop.

i think that in assistence they didn't changed the "bad part" as is written on the receipt and they only made me loose 10 days of time.

I think that this laptop has been the first and the last one HP product i buy...

my old pc with his 10 years hasn't had that problem, it become less hot when i use it and the cooling fan is silent, not like hte one of this new laptop wich somtimes seems a diesel car...

for the price of 1100 € i should have buied a performing laptop and not a Pc that after neiter one month needs to be repaired and instead of repair it they send me back the laptop in worse condition...
