why is so difficult to find max ram supported for my model ? where exactly is it? (exactly) . There are many models of Hp compaq cq62-220 (SL, SA,US,SI, etc etc, and accord to crucial.com the variate from 4 to 8 gb max ram? (my model is not listed there of course..) So?? I still cant believe how much time im wasting for this , this shuold be more than easy .Thanks..

The first section of your Maintenance and Service Guide states "Supports dual-channel memory DDR3, 1066 MHz- Supports up to 8 GB of system memory".

Hy Cheryl, thanks for your help. I had read that and it doesn't discriminates between dozen of models of cq62, the problem is that all programs (cpu-z, everest, etc) detect ddr2 memory in my laptop. In fact in mrmemory web page(and others similar web pages too) discriminates 2 types of ram for different models of compact cq62, the ones with ddr3 and the ones with ddr2. It advertise that this model cq62 comes with diferents settings. I checked and depending on numbers(220, 221,225, and so on..) and letters(SA, US, SL, Si, etc that indicates countries) the setting is different (ddr2, ddr3, max 4gb,max 8gb, Amd processor, Intel processor )so now.. I know that mine is ddr2 but I don't know if max supported is 4gb(2x2gb or 8gb(2x4gb). Do I explain my self better? Thanks!

I agree the specifications are quite confusing for the CQ62 series and the Manual listed on your Support page doesn't clear it up. It appears that models using DDR2 can only use 4gb max.

Perhaps @Huffer or @erico can add more to the discussion.

Your PC has the GL40 chipset and supports max 4GB of DDR2 RAM according to chipset specs.
