HP DB 0186AU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi mates,

I wanted to know whether the processor supplied with HP 0186AU laptop is upgradeable or not.

Also if possible, please provide a list of cpu(s) compatible with this laptop.

Hi:

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

The motherboard would have to be replaced with one listed in the service manual for your notebook that may come with a better processor.

It would be about the same expense to buy a new notebook with a better processor already included.

I also read somewhere that irrespective of what the manual says about the max ram supported on this mobo, i can upgrade to 32gb ddr4. Is this true?

Yes, I believe you are correct.

On some models HP understates the maximum capacity of the supported memory.

I can only conjecture that maybe they only test products with up to a certain memory amount.

The crucial memory site indicates your specific model can indeed take 2 x 16 GB of memory, and I have always found them to be right regarding the memory size.
