My electrical outlet sparked and damaged the power cord that came with my laptop. I ordered a replacement power cord and when the time came to charge my laptop battery I decided to plug the new power cord into a power strip instead of my wall outlet which previously sparked and damaged the original cord. I unfortunately found out that the power cord will not plug into the power strip. Can someone please tell me the reason for this? I push but it will not go in. It only goes in halfway (see picture)? I tried the other slots on the strip but had the same problem. I intend to buy a surge protector in the future. Will I encounter the same problem? Why is it not fitting into the power strip? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Normally if like with us in France, even if they are not of the same shape, the sockets are standard ..
Everything must fit perfectly regardless of where you are plugged in
Where did you buy this cable?
It may not be of good quality, a vulgar copy?
Have you tried another outlet?

It should be an authentic power cord since I ordered it from the HP Spare Sparts Store, who by the way, overcharged me. To my knowledge, it doesn't cost $55.42 for a laptop power cord. But I have two other power strips and it will not fit into them either. I do have other wall outlets but they're in bad condition too and I will be having an electrician fix them soon. Is there a certain kind of power strip or surge protector that a laptop cord can be plugged into?

Hi
curious
Can you test it on someone..?
At home, the outlets are totally different, but it doesn't matter, a laptop can be plugged into any electrical outlet, or surge protector
