power supply

I am after the actual size of the power socket on my laptop. I wish to buy a 12v Dc charger for my car. HP is a silly price but i have found some possible items. but need to clarify that what i buy is the correct size. thanks

To better assist you - May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Alternatively, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link.

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options". Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

As i asked in the question, i would like to know the size of the power input socket so i can purchase elsewhere as the HP price is a ridiculous amout to purchase.

The actual size of the female connection that inserts into the laptop.

You need a 45 W AC adapter, 4.5 mm barrel connector, non-power factor correcting (NPFC). Part# 741727-001
