hello,where can i find the list of compatible processors (currently i have i7 6560 U2 core ) with my hp envy 15 as005nf ?  i have bios insydeF37

Hi:

Your notebook's processor is an integrated circuit on the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced.

Upgrading the processor would require a motherboard replacement with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor.

thank you for your quick answer ; so bad news! i did not find the motherboard references. i tried the hp spare sparts finder but i just found a few numbers. 

anyways,i suppose a motherboard is quite expensive, so i will upgrade the ssd and the ram. by the way i ran the hp support assisatant and it says my pc can accept up to 32 gb of ram and i dont understand why all the sites i checked for ram spare parts say it can only support up to 16gb ram. do you know why?

You are correct.

Generally, it is very expensive to upgrade the motherboard and usually not worth the return on investment.

 Chapter 1 of your notebook's service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB, so I imagine all of the memory sites use the manual as the reference.

It is possible that your notebook can support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

I recommend you do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

hello again! if i upgrade my original ssd to a Samsung ssd M2 Evo pro 1TB,would my pc accept it since for such speed it requires an M 2 connector with PCIe 3.0 x4 ? or should i use a Samsung ssd M2 Evo? thank you.

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates your notebook can support both SATA and NVMe M.2 SSD's.

However, this discussion seems to indicate that a NVMe SSD does not work in that model series.

But this person indicates that a NVMe SSD does work in that model series.

So, you will have to decide what you want to do.

If you decide to buy a NVMe SSD, please let us know if it works.

You would want a PCIe Gen 3 SSD.

Your notebook would run a Gen 4 SSD but only at the Gen 3 speed.

Thank you for your answer. I am a little confused so:1. My pc has 2 drives,1 ssd and 1 sata. The 1 TB sata hard disk is fine a fast and big enough for my usage. I want to upgrade the ssd. So,based on your answer,i want to opt for the middle solution : ssd Samsung evo 1TB;,faster and much bigger,and since it will throttle at 3,no need to go for the Samsung evo pro.2: hp manual indicates ssd 128,250 and 500GB. Would a 1TB be accepted by my pc? Thank you.

Yes, a 1 TB M.2 SSD should work fine.

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.
