Hi,

"Enter" key on my laptop keyboard on the mentioned product has stopped working suddenly. Nothing was spilled on it and all the other keys are working fine. The key is pressing fine I have cleaned the dust too. I have checked the drivers restarted the computer a couple of times and also connected an external keyboard on which the key is working fine.

Please if you have any solutions for this kindly reach out to me.

Hi @Rijul24,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the "Enter" key on your HP Pavilion Gaming laptop has stopped working despite cleaning and checking for driver issues, there are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try.

Keyboard Test:

  • Perform a keyboard test to check if the "Enter" key is registering at all. You can use online keyboard testing tools or built-in keyboard testing applications.
  • If the test shows that the "Enter" key is not registering, it could be a hardware issue.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager on your laptop and find the keyboard section.
  • Right-click on the keyboard driver and select "Update driver." Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If that doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the keyboard driver and then restarting your laptop. The system will automatically reinstall the driver.

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, keyboard issues can be resolved with a BIOS update. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when updating the BIOS.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when the "Enter" key was working. This will undo changes made to system files and settings.

Check Accessibility Settings:

  • Go to the Control Panel and open the "Ease of Access" or "Accessibility" settings. Ensure that there are no settings that might be affecting the keyboard functionality.

Hardware Inspection:

  • If the above steps don't resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the keyboard.

External Keyboard Test:

  • Since the external keyboard is working fine, it suggests that the issue might be specific to the built-in keyboard. If all else fails, you can continue using the external keyboard or consider replacing the built-in keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
