I sure wish you would just fix this issue. We have bought 5 Envy laptops in the last year, and EVERY ONE of them gives this error--directly out of the box.
When i try and run updates with the support assistant, they all fail/are cancelled by the software, so there is no way to get the updates i need that potentially will fix the issue.
I dont understand how issues like this can persist for this long, yet you dont address the issue in any way.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: https://hp.care/2rSuDJS;
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
Follow this link https://hp.care/2FLNXnE do a quick search with the product number of the notebook, select the right operating system, and perform a bios update. This should precisely fix the issue. 🙂
Please reply with the details for further assistance.
Eager to help!

Hi. I have a similar problem with my HP Elitebook 840 G1 (Product # Joq22us).
I started getting a message stating my hp smart adapter was not functioning properly. And now my laptop battery is dead and the charger does nothing. Just got it yesterday for christmas. Was bought from Amazon refurbished, i like the product and would rather fix than return. Please help.
