I am facing an issue with my fingerprint sensor not working on my HP EliteBook 840 G3. Despite multiple attempts to enable it, it remains inactive. I would like to download the correct driver to resolve this problem.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The fingerprint reader might be a "blank", that is, not a real sensor but instead a plastic piece that protects the spot where an installed fingerprint sensor would be located.

Next,

If the Device Manager must include the Biometric devices section.

AND

If detected, Device Manager will include the type of fingerprint reader.

No Biometric devices section = No fingerprint reader hardware detected.

Generic Example - Device Manager - Biometric devices and illustrations

Note that the illustration includes a "box" fingerprint reader -

The Box is just a different type of reader hardware.

Next,

If / When you get to the point where you need a driver -- that is, you have a working fingerprint reader sensor installed in the hardware and the Device Manager detects the reader, then the driver is useful.
