Office Jet Pro 6968 All in one.
Problem with printhead message. Have reset printer a few times, removed, cleaned and re installed cartridges. No help.
I believe this is the same reason I replaced my last printer several years ago.
Any advice?

@kenvoelker777, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Basic Reset (already done)
You've already done a basic power reset and cleaned/reinstalled the cartridges—good first steps.
Deep Cleaning the Printhead
Since basic cleaning hasn't worked, try a more thorough method:
Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Open the access door and gently remove the printhead assembly, if possible.
Use distilled water or isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and a lint-free cloth or coffee filter to gently clean the electrical contacts on:
The printhead
The carriage where it sits
Allow everything to dry fully before reassembling and powering the printer back on.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
Also, I suggest you refer to this guide: HP Inkjet printers - Printhead errors | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
