ram upgrade

i have a 255 g8 notebook 1w9z3av with AMD 3020e with Radeon Graphics 1.20 GHz it currently has 4gb DDR4 2666 ram . i would like to know the max ram i can install on the device . when using wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx i got 67xxxxxx which when divided gives me 64 gb . is this the max ram i can install on the device ?

Notebooks with the AMD 3020e processors only have one memory slot and according to chapter 1 of the service manual, the maximum memory the slot can support is 8 GB.

Maybe the slot will support 1 x 16 GB of memory, but it would be an experiment on your part.

No guarantee it will work.

hello friend  i have checked the task manager which says I have use 1 slot of 2 , is this a reliable source of how many ram cards my laptop can take . is so what would that mean for the max ram i can add to the pc

It is absolutely not a reliable source.

The report is picking up the circuitry for the second memory slot that doesn't have any hardware to install a memory chip in.

Below is an eBay listing for a HP 255 G8 motherboard that has the AMD 3020e processor.

As you can see, the circuitry is there for a second memory slot, but the memory slot and the mounting brackets are not there.

if i was to put in 8 x1 or 16 x1 what would be the best specs of memory to buy in terms of frequency ond the like  . my current one is DDR4 2666 ( according to cpu z ) .

Hi:

Your notebook's processor runs the memory at a max speed of 2400 MHz.

You can install a DDR4-2400 CL17 memory chip, a DDR4-2666 CL19 memory chip or a DDR4-3200 MHz CL22 memory chip, whichever is easiest to find and costs the least amount of money for the capacity you want to buy.
