Hello dockterdave,
You most likely can, however, without telling us the product/model number or the specific processor, it's hard to tell you the exact maximum amount of RAM it can take.
Information on how to find a laptop's model/product number is detailed in this HP document.
Awaiting your response,
Eddy

Hello dockterdave,
The HP Notebook - 15-bs576tx can take up to a max of 16GB of DDR4-2133 (2 * 8GB) RAM. It can also take DDR4-2400. Steps to replacement are located on pages 54 and 55 of your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
It's generally recommended that you use the same type of RAM.
Regards,
Eddy

HI,
You need to use 2400Mhz RAM. Most likely you can upgrade to 32GB max since HP DDR4 systems work with 32GB of RAM. However, officially the max is 16GB.
Yes you need to remove the bottom cover as which you can see on page 49 of service manual. (after removing battery and optical drive if present) There are screws under the rubber feet which need to be removed. Once you have removed all the screws use a plastic tool such as guitar pick or credit card to pry between the top and bottom cover working your way around the PC to disengage the small plastic hooks holding the two parts together.

Hope it helps,

Well after a quick trip to Fry's electronics(My Dineyland) and about 15 minutes following your step by step instructions I am now the proud owner of an upgraded HP laptop. You saved me about $50 and wait time of 4 to 12 hours getting the computer back. Ur awsome. Thanks for taking the time.
