Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello ... I have an hp laptop ... cpu core i7-7550u ... with 2 ram : 1) 4GB-1Rx16-pc4-2400T and 2) 8GB -1Rx8-pc4-2400T ...
Can I replace the first ram ( 4GB ) with a 16GB-2Rx8-pc4-2400T or not ? ... does it work with my computer system or it's better to replace it with another 8GB-1Rx8-2400T ? ....

Hi:

Most HP notebooks with Intel 7th generation core processors support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Check the maintenance and service guide for your notebook's model series.

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade information.

Access the support site in English because the service manuals are all in English.

It may be possible for your notebook to support a 16 GB DDR4 memory chip in one slot, but you need to run this command to confirm that your notebook will support 32 GB of memory:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Dual ranked memory should work in your notebook.

Hi ... In command prompt I typed the command you said ...  MaxCapacityEx is 33554432 ... in other words 32 GB ... yes ... thanks a lot ...

my laptop cpu is intel 8th generation ...

These 3 images are 4 , 8 and 16 GB ram ... 4 and 8 are installed in my computer and 16 GB is the one I want to replace with the 4GB ram ... It seems I shouldn't have problem with replacing that ... right ? ...

Yes, you should be OK with that 16 GB 2Rx8 chip.
