I am trying to remove the keyboard to inspect the fan which has failed. I have removed the keyboard screw and cd drive and pushed very hard in the keyboard release space, but it shows no sign of moving. Any suggestions?

I see that you're trying to remove notebook keyboard to inspect fan.
Please refer to the Maintenance and Service Guide Chapter (Refer to Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures ENWW )
Note: Any damage by end users while replacing or repairing the unit will void the warranty.
