is it possible to replace the pavilion 17 ab204nl keyboard, if so how. It is not an easily accessible keyboard like in other 17 models.

My keyboard has been showing signs of damage that are getting worse for a couple of years even after cleaning under them. More and more keys have to be pressed multiple times, or very hard,, to register. i'm afraid it is a rust issue, and i wouldn't want it to spread to the rest of the pc (is this a legitimate worry btw? i just know that rust spreads)

Since it is built into the top cover, you need to look at the service manual here Service Manual  on page 33 it shows the part number for your Pavilion in the color you need and country you use. Get the part number and search for it. I buy most all my parts from ebay. Keep in mind you'll have to do a complete dissasembly of the laptop to replace the keyboard, but fortunately the procedure is covered in the service manual above.

how worth is this doing/? i have no problem using a external keyboard. but is my worry about corrosion potentially spreading to  more critical parts of the machine valid and possible and worth changing the keyboard for? or is it unlikely?
