I have an HP Notebook 15-ay137cl with a WD1 GB Hard drive and would like to add an SSD and/or replace the exisitng WD 1 GB hard drive. Is this possible?

Yes, you can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
See the service manual at the link below for the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

The Western Digital Blue SSD's have the best performance for the price, in my opinion.
