Hello everyone!

I have a 15-bs514nl laptop in a dual storage configuration:  1T hdd hard disk  and  256 ssd (2,5''  SATA3 ).

I'd like to upgrade my 256 ssd  to a 500GB ssd. Is it possible?

Thanks for your attention!

Hi:

That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Just make sure that you buy a SATA M.2 SSD, not a NVMe one, because your notebook's M.2 slot supports SATA SSD's only.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types--SATA only.

My understanding is that an M.2 ssd drive would require an adapter bracket, therefore I'm looking for a  2,5 inch ssd drive.

Right now I have a 256GB SATA3 2,5 inch ssd drive. Is it possible to replace it with  512 GB SATA3 2,5 inch ssd drive?

Hi:

How are you running a dual drive configuration?

I assumed you had the 2.5" drive and the M.2 SSD.

The product specs for your notebook indicate that it only came with a 1 TB hard drive.

My understanding is that that notebook model series already has a SATA M.2 slot and it is ready to go as is.

You can see the M.2 slot in this picture from another 15-bs model...the drive goes in the slot where circled, and screws down to the left side of the picture.  I assume it goes above those two ribbon cables, but can't say for sure.

Hi! I just opened my notebook and it's as you said! Apparently I have a 2,5'' HDD and a M.2 Sata ssd!

Thanks a lot!

You're very welcome.

Not to sound like a broken record here, but only replace it with a SATA M.2 SSD.

You can use the cloud recovery tool create a bootable USB recovery drive to reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook in the larger SSD.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.
