Hi all , i have a project restoring a PV6 laptop. it didnt have a hard drive or cable when I started. the machine startes up and complains about it cant find a bootable drive etc. so I purchased a ssd 500gb and a cable, onced installed the machine will not start up at all??? if i remove the ssd the machine will start up. even if i install he ssd hot or reinstall when the machine off its the same out come ... no start?
ebay cable and ssd..all new???

Yes that is exactly what I was trying to say. Being older the DV1000 series cables are bit rarer and harder to find. Good luck.

Do you mean a DV6 like a 15 year old laptop?...Please tell us the exact model number and the HP Part number of the cable you bought on eBay. If I recall there are a few versions of that cable for different DV6 generations.

Hi , and yes that old. I am in the Men Shed ,,in short I salvage old laptops and donate them to ever neeeds them . some kids in the out back of Australia still lone school computers or just cant afford them or have broken them. anyhow yes that old

Part number for the hard drive hardware kit:
665301-001
If your cable has the clip in end, instead of a ribbon cable it is likely the correct part but this is 100% right:
If this does not work I am afraid your vintage machine has an issue with the motherboard SATA controller or the connector has some damage to it.

Hi, I have dun some homework and yes there is several drive cables in the PV range. I looked up the cable i have it seems to fit more the PV6 to 7 range where i have PV6 1000 1100 1200 type serial numbers, so I will see what I can dig up.
