unkown

I have a laptop I am trying to repair. It has a shattered screen, no battery and various other issues. It can boot it but I can't see the bios because of the shattered screen and because fn 4 key can't switch the screen output until after bios.

To make matters worse the last user has taken off the sticker with serial/make/model. There are literally no markings giving me any idea what model it is.

I do have the PCID under the battery. Is there any lookup that can tell me what I have and what screen I need to purchase?

Hi @armm,

Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I understand that the sticker on the laptop have been removed so you do not know which product the laptop is. I want to help with this issue. You can run the HP Support Assistant. Under the specifications tab, it will show the detail of the product number.

HP PCs - Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7)

Then you can search the product number here. Click on the User Guide on the left of the page . It has all the part numbers on the Guide. You can place the order on HP Parts Store.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Click on the "Thumb Up" icon for "thank you". Click on "Accepted as Solution", if your problem has been resolved.

That would require me installing a working hard drive and installing Windows. I was looking for a method to identify with the PCID number (or if there is another physical number behind some panel that would work) as I don't want to put in the time and money if the repairs are not with it.

Well the first two can't work as I said the computer has a shattered screen making the bios screen impossible to see with an external monitor, and I am not interested in installing a hard drive and windows until i know this laptop is worth it.

The third option is what has sent me to this forum as the only thing under the battery is the PCID and all other stickers have been removed. It seems we have come full circle. Is there a reverse PCID lookup tool?

Hi @armm,

We have run out all of the options we have. You may consider contacting a local repair store to have a check up of the laptop. They may have the knowledge of the hardware.
